Dec 26, 2012 letter

Nativity at the DC Temple Visitors Center
Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope your December 25th was bright and happy and full of our Saviors love! My Christmas day was pretty much awesome. Being a missionary at this time of year is the best! In the morning, all of the missionaries in our mission gathered together at the Visitors Center and we took a mission photo then had a wonderful meeting full of the Spirit! We heard from President and Sister Matsumori as well as Elder and Sister Olsen. The Sisters performed a special musical number (Breath of Heaven) while Luke 2 played behind them. It was so cool and really brought the spirit even more! We then presented our mission gift to President and his wife, then they presented their gifts to us! They generously gave each of us a gospel art book and a journal! How sweet is that?? Then they surprised us and we watched Elf! It was weird watching it as a missionary... But it was still fun :) We all loved it so much! then we went over to the stake center next door and had a large turkey lunch! We played games and had lots of entertainment (including Santa)! Then we all had time to call home (best thing for Christmas ever!)

Then the madness began! We had SO many people in last night! Most of them don't celebrate Christmas, or really didn't even know what Christmas was or who Christ is or anything! It made for a very interesting night. Hard night, but a good night! So many miracles! I talked to this one guy from Russia. His name is Borge :) He was telling me about how his generation (he's in his 40's) doesn't really care about religion and he didn't really see the point to believing anything. His son and his wife are religious and Borge doesn't understand why it is so important to his son to have this strong belief. He wants to believe like his family. So I told him that he could. We talked about faith and how it's like a seed and whatnot. We talked about prayer and scriptures and I bore my testimony of the restored gospel to him. He accepted missionaries :) It was so cool! I love the spirit of Christmas and how it softens people's hearts so quickly!

I miss you all! Thank you for your love and support! Thank you for your letters for Sister Wong! She absolutely loved all of them! You guys are so great! Thank you also for all the gifts and letters you all sent :) They definitely made us have a fun Christmas season!

Sister Wong and Sister Bullock
I'm sorry I haven't been the best about writing you all back, but I'm going to try to change that this week :) I love you, I love you, I love you! Be safe and stay strong in the gospel! Always remember that He loves you and will be with you always! *Alma 32:27-28

Alma 32:27-28
27 But behold, if ye will awake and arouse your faculties, even to an experiment upon my words, and exercise a particle of faith, yea, even if ye can no more than desire to believe, let this desire work in you, even until ye believe in a manner that ye can give place for a portion of my words.

28 Now, we will compare the word unto a seed. Now, if ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, if it be a true seed, or a good seed, if ye do not cast it out by your unbelief, that ye will resist the Spirit of the Lord, behold, it will begin to swell within your breasts; and when you feel these swelling motions, ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed, or that the word is good, for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me.

Love, Sister Bullock

Sister Bullock's letter dated Dec 19, 2012

HI!!!!!!!
Oh my goodness this week has been amazing! We've had some setbacks, but I feel like this week was actually progress for me! Michael didn't get baptized simply because he didn't think he was ready (he wants to attend church more regularly), but he has a new date of January 13th! His grandmother's birthday! We dropped Nabil because he hasn't been keeping any of his commitments or reading or praying or anything. But we kept Little John because he is the coolest 10 year old ever! And we recommitted him to be baptized, but this time on the 6th of January! He's super excited! I wish I could report more about my area, but I have like maybe 4 hours a week in it... It's sad, but I LOVE working at the Visitors Center every night!

It's fun to see all the Sisters, and then to meet all sorts of new people! I love stories and I love the stories people tell (no wonder I'm a history major...), and it's just so fun to sit and listen to stories every night, then relate them to the gospel and watch the Light of Christ shine in their eyes. Best thing ever! Yesterday I was able to work the Paul Cardall show! He is amazing! And super talented! I loved his performance! If you haven't heard his stuff, you should look him up! His parents serve here at the Visitors Center with me so it's super fun!

I've also come to realize why I was called to serve in this mission. I'm here because of the Visitors Center. This is my purpose. It's so special and wonderful here! I LOVE being a Visitors Center Sister! Love it! :) I love being a missionary!

Oh! I forgot to mention how grateful I am for the knowledge I have of the Plan of Salvation. It brings me great comfort in this tough time. I haven't heard a lot about the shootings in Connecticut, but I've heard enough to know that it's awful and tragic. My heart goes out to those families :(

Anyway, I love and miss you all! Stay strong and faithful! And have a Merry Christmas!!!
Love, Sister Bullock
